Description

The unit aims to provide an understanding of the key unit operations used in manufacturing products including vaccines, therapeutic proteins and diagnostic tests. The course will cover fermentation, extraction technologies and purification operations including centrifugation, filtration, chromatography and precipitation. The course will describe the applications and the relevant mathematical models for each unit of operations. The design of manufacturing processes and facilities required by the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry will be studied in depth. The course will cover the design principles, economic analysis and the role of regulatory authorities in this field.
